Does anyone else remember learning this song in school? I'm looking for the second verse.
Batteries Not Included
I saw a talking dolly
On my tv screen
She danced around in her pretty clothes
Like you have never seen
I asked my mom to order one
What came was just absurd
She lay on her back in a bathing suit
And never said a doggone word
Batteries not included
Accessories sold separately
Somehow things don't look the same
As they show you on tv.
I think the next verse has to do with an army truck for the brother but I can't remember. Anyone know this song?

Hello, I stumbled upon your blog while looking up this song. I don't remember any verses... actually all I could recall was the chorus. I could've sworn that my grade school music teacher told us that she was the one who wrote this song. I could be completely mistaken, but I can't find any other record of it online. By chance, are you originally from the Jersey shore?
I am looking everywhere for the lyrics too... I found your blog on this song... I really want to teach it to my children... I went to a small elementary school in MO... I saw someone else was from Jersey area... I will keep looking and will let you know if I find the lyrics... please post it here if you find them
I learned this song in elementary school in Richmond, VA. I think some of the words vary, depending on accents (smiles). See if these lyrics sound familiar...
It was the needed truck set
and it was real keen
It had a power steering wheel,
it looked good on TV
I got it for my birthday present and didn't quite believe
There was no power steering wheel and it didn't have a Soldier Steve

They got my little brother
just the other day
He saw this thing and carried on
had to have one right away
It was a picture telephone
a singing, talking thing
and now he sits there all day long
waiting for the thing to ring
(chorus again)
I used to watch it daily
Loved those TV ads
But it only took a closer look to see that I was being had
My piggy bank is empty now
My teeth are full of holes
So I'm going to live the natural life with my homemade fishing pole
Batteries not included, pick up your bait separately
Suddenly fishing is a lot more fun, than watching old TV
No more ads for me, no more ads for me, I've gone fishing you see...
I grew up in Washington state and was just Googling for this song! We sang it probably in 1981? It was so clever and would resonate today, too - wish it were findable out there....

I saw the neatest truck set with Jeeps for land and sea, with soldiers Steve at the steering wheel, it looked good on TV, I got it for my birthday now but I couldn't quite believe those great looking Jeeps wouldn't move at all and not a sign of soldier Steve...

I learned it in Wa, State in 1989. I really wish I could hear that song too...maybe we should all sing it together on skype, lol, I think it might sound better with children's voices
Has anyone ever found a copy of the music for this song? I have been looking for it since 1981!

I grew up in Massachusetts and also learned this song from my grade school music teacher, Mrs. Bryant.
THANK YOU!! I finally got my husband to watch the movie "Batteries Not Included", and he complained that it didn't have the song that I used to sing in it. He assumed that it came from the movie. I just HAD to find the lyrics so that i could sing it for him. Yes I remember leaning it in school, but I could only remember the chorus. Thanks again!!
I learned the same song in suburban Wisconsin in the 80s, so it sounds like it wasn't just one of our chorus teachers writing their own stuff.
I learned it in the early '80s in northwest Pennsylvania. Wish I could find it now!
This was a song I sang in choirs class in 5th grade Fl. 1990. I could only remember a little bit of it so thanks for refreshing my memories!!! I googled it because it some how popped into my head.
Does anyone else remember Pizza Life For Me?

We sang this in the late 80’s in elementary school choir. I wish there was a recording somewhere. I remember the very end was something like:
no more ads for me
no more fads for me
I’ve gone fishing you see.
I grew up in cali inthe 80's is where I learned it
I learned it in the 80s in rural Nee York!
Aww I've been looking for the lyrics too, at one point I still had the lyrics still from elementary school (sang this in the 80s in Cali) but from moving I must of tossed it out.😠I still to this day sing the lyrics anytime I watch a toy commercial and they mention that batteries are not included 🤣
Thank you all for taking me down memory lane 🥰
I grew up in Tempe, AZ and sang this song as part of a play in elementary school in the 80's.
Does anyone have a recording of the song
